Boca Barranca is a long left point break in front of a river mouth, when it’s working the ride can last half a mile or better and is considered the second longest left point break in the world. It’s an excellent long board wave, and for hitting the lip on a short board. Greg Noll and Rabbit Kekai’s annual legends event was held here, where surf legends from the past came to catch up, ride and to compete in the longboard championship event. Henry Ford (President of the Long Board Association of America) and Dennis ‘the kid’ Bourg (competitor on world long board tour), already call Boca Barranca Beach and Surf Resort home. Surfers refer to this area as the ‘secret spot‘ because it’s a secret paradise and one of the best waves in Costa Rica.
